Authorization by State
University of Alaska Fairbanks is authorized to offer distance education in most states under the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). Approval for UAF's participation in SARA was granted by the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) on November 13, 2017. Each state has its own unique requirements for authorization. Please see the state listing below for the UAF programs that are authorized in your state.

The California Bureau for Private Postsecondary education does not regulate out-of-state public institutions. Therefore, Bureau approval for UAF to offer distance education programs to students located in California is not required. Therefore, UAF is in compliance with California regulations concerning postsecondary distance education.

Colorado law requires unpaid student interns to be covered by workers' compensation insurance. Prior to beginning an internship or field experience at a Colorado placement facility, students should work with their college internship coordinator or advisor to ensure that Colorado’s worker's compensation requirements are met.
UAF is not able to add students to its institutional workers' compensation policy. It is the responsibility of the college to ensure that a student has the necessary coverage prior to placing a student in Colorado.
