The Emerging STEM Scholars Academy track is designed for 15 Student Support Services participants who will attend at least one in-person class at UAF for the upcoming fall semester.

About ESA STEM

ESA STEM includes a nine-day intensive summer bridge program and two-year cohorted learning community:

Summer bridge

  • One-credit math preparation course to ensure correct placement from ALEKS math placement exam
  • Behind-the-scenes tours of campus and research facilities
  • Assistance with financial aid, admissions and course registration issues
  • Panel discussions with professors, current and past students, and administrators
  • Exciting outdoor Alaska field trip with staff and faculty

Year 1 fall courses for 2022 ESSA

  • College Success Skills — DEVS F110  (1 credit)
  • Intro to Psychology — PSY F101X  (3 credits)
  • Bi-weekly academic coaching session with SSS advisor

Year 1 spring course for 2022 ESSA

  • Writing for the Sciences — WRTG F213X (3 credits)
