The UAF Faculty Senate passed the following at its Meeting #131 on September 19, 2005:

The UAF Faculty Senate moves that all Senate committees, including subcommittees and ad hoc committees, have mixed gender representation, and further, the Senate strongly recommends that all university-wide committees have mixed gender representation.

RATIONALE: Although women make up approximately 40% of the faculty, they are not always represented in University-wide committees. To avoid the appearance of bias and to include more views, background and experience, the CSW believe that increasing mixed gender representation on committees will help to further integrate women into all levels of the university community. This motion reaffirms that the university values gender equity.
