Student Awards

The Student-Faculty Awards Committee is seeking nominations for the Marion Frances Boswell Memorial Award  (Outstanding Graduating Senior Woman), the Joel Wiegert Award (Outstanding Graduating Senior Man), and the Gray Tilly Memorial Award (Outstanding Non-traditional Student). These awards recognize outstanding UAF graduates each year.

The awards are announced at the annual Awards Breakfast.

Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 9:30AM (Doors open at 9AM)

Wood Center Carol Brown Ballroom

Breakfast will be served after opening remarks.

Invite and RSVP Required.

The Awards Breakfast will begin at 9:30AM on April 21 in the Ballroom of the Wood Center. Recipients and guests are welcome to arrive as early as 9 to get checked in and settled. A buffet breakfast will be served after brief opening remarks.

 

The criteria used by the committee in the selection of the award recipients are:

Marion Frances Boswell Memorial Award & Joel Wiegert Award

Students nominated must have accumulated a minimum of 30 semester credit hours at the University of Alaska Fairbanks by May 2018, and must have received or will receive their baccalaureate degree during the 2017-2018 academic year.

Other criteria include character, personality, scholarship (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5), extracurricular activities, and contributions to the University and Fairbanks communities.

Gray Tilly Memorial Award

Students nominated must be graduating seniors, whose education was interrupted because of family responsibilities, including financial hardships

Students nominated for the Gray Tilly Award are usually the "non-traditional" students who may have required more than 4-5 years to complete their course of study due to family responsibilities, etc.

Students nominated must have accumulated a minimum of 30 semester credit hours at the University of Alaska Fairbanks by May 2018, and must have received or will receive their baccalaureate degree during the 2017-2018 academic year.

Other criteria include character, personality, scholarship (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0), extracurricular activities, and contributions to the University and Fairbanks communities.
