Bachelor's Degree Program

Get professional training for careers in music performance, studying in the vibrant art and cultural scene of Fairbanks, Alaska. Emphasizing one-on-one learning, our bachelor’s degree in music gives you opportunities to work with experienced performers and engage in the local music community.

Starting your first year, you’ll gain valuable performance experience through a variety of large and small ensembles, workshops with guest artists, apprentice programs, master classes and state and national competitions. You can also specialize your degree to explore and shape your particular musical interests and career paths.

Graduates of our program go on to diverse careers in music, or continue their studies in graduate programs in the United States and internationally.

  • Our performance faculty are professional musicians and researchers who frequently serve as guest artists, clinicians and conductors at venues around the world.

Take part in a variety of musical experiences

  • Recitals and concerts provide music majors a variety of musical experiences that expand their regular curriculum.

Work and perform in state-of-the-art music facilities

  • Our Media Lab includes equipment and programs for music notation, and music and video editing. We also have teaching studios, practice rooms, listening facilities, a theater and more as part of our Fine Arts Complex.

 

 

What Can You Do With a Music Degree?

Most of our students who earn a degree in music performance will continue on to graduate music degree programs or artist diploma programs in the United States or Europe.

Bachelor of Arts degree graduates have a variety of opportunities. Some have continued on to graduate study in their specialized concentration, others have found careers as performing musicians, private teachers, composers and arrangers.
