Fairbanks, Alaska is known as "The Golden Heart City".  It may have started out as a gold rush boomtown, but has proved to be much more than that since its founding in 1901.  Fairbanks is the second largest city in the State of Alaska.  With the city proper population (2018) around 31,500 and the Fairbanks North Star Borough population (2018) at just over 97,000 residents.  Fairbanks is full of friendly, hardy and diverse people, many of whom take advantage of outside activities year round.

A 196 mile drive North will take you to the Arctic Circle and a 355 mile drive South will get you to Anchorage with amazing landscape along the way including views of Denali.
