By studying the body chemistry of hibernating Arctic ground squirrels, researchers have found that the animals are able to recycle their body’s own nutrients to survive during a long, inactive winter.

UAF undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, staff and faculty are invited to apply.

Students must be eligible for financial aid according to 2019-20 FAFSA and be in good standing with the UAF Graduate School. Awards will be distributed to eligible applicants, in the order that applications are received, until the funds are exhausted. The application deadline is April 10, 2020.
