The UAF Community and Technical College opened its new aviation technology facility in 2013 on the East Ramp of Fairbanks International Airport.

The hangar has 12,000 square feet for aviation maintenance and 8,000 square feet of classrooms and office space. It hosts a functioning Boeing 727 jet donated by Fed-Ex in February 2013. The aviation technology program is one of only a few in the United States where students can earn an airframe and powerplant mechanics license in one year.
