The business administration department offers professional education to students interested in management, finance, human resource management, international business, marketing and travel industry management.
Competent management practices require an education that is both broad and deep. The business administration program prepares graduates to meet complex technical, economic and social problems and enables them to apply imaginative and responsible leadership to the needs of industry and government.
The undergraduate and graduate programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
Admission Standards to UAF School of Management's Upper-Division Courses
A student wishing to take upper division courses in accounting, accounting information systems or business administration must first complete the following courses.
- Complete at least 30-40 credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher.
- Complete the
following courses with a grade of "C" or better:
ACCT 261--Accounting Concepts and Uses I--3 credits
ACCT 262--Accounting Concepts and Uses II--3 credits
STAT 200--Elementary Probability and Statistics--3 credits
AIS 101--Effective Personal Computer Use--3 credits
COMM 131X--Fundamentals of Oral Communication: Group Context (3)
or COMM 141X Fundamentals of Oral Communication: Public Context (3)--3 credits
ECON 200--Principles of Economics--4 credits
ENGL 111X--Introduction to Academic Writing--3 credits
ENGL 211X--Academic Writing about Literature (3)
or ENGL 213X--Academic Writing about Social and Natural Sciences (3)--3 credits
MATH 262X--Calculus for Business and Economics--4 credits - Complete at least 9 credits that satisfy UAF's Baccalaureate Core in Perspectives on the Human Condition and Natural Sciences.
Conditional Admission to Upper-division Courses
A student wishing to take upper-division courses in accounting, accounting information systems and business administration may do so for one semester only while completing lower level deficiencies, with approval of the director of undergraduate studies.

- Complete the B.B.A. degree requirements. (As part of the Common Body of Knowledge, complete AIS 310.)

Note: To take BA 300 level courses as a minor, students must
receive approval from the director of undergraduate studies to be admitted in a
Business Administration minor, meet all prerequisites for BA 300-level classes,
have a cumulative GPA of 2.25 and be of junior standing. Students interested in
pursuing a minor are reminded to review course descriptions for prerequisite
requirements.
