ENVS F101 Introduction to Environmental Science

3 Credits     Offered Spring

Introduces the fundamentals of, and methods used in, environmental science. By focusing on case studies in rural Alaska, Earth's sytems and the scientific principles used to understand environmental questions are discussed. Key topics include Earth's materials, ecological processes and human influences to ecosystems and issues covered including energy, biodiversity, resource management, landscape alteration and climate change. Recommended: F100-level biology, chemistry or geology class. (3+0)
