Alaska Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit
The Cooperative Research Unit is jointly sponsored and financed by UAF, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The unit provides financial support and guidance for graduate training in fishery and wildlife biology and management.
Fisheries research emphasis is on the ecology and fisheries of aquatic ecosystems, alteration and contamination of Alaskan freshwater, and evaluation and development of cold water fisheries techniques. Wildlife research is directed toward ungulate habitat relationships, waterfowl and seabird ecology, wildlife population dynamics, and the impact of northern development on wild animals and their habitats.
