Practical driver training in actual situations. Expected student outcome is obtaining a State of Alaska driver's license. (Prerequisite: Must have a valid Alaska Driver's Permit.)

Introduction to Small Engine Repair (1+0)
Parts and functions of a small engine and its electrical system. Dismantling procedures, cleaning and reassembly techniques, gasket-making, lubrication, troubleshooting, and minor repairs.
AUTO 101 (4 Credits) Spring
Automotive Systems Fundamentals (3+3)
Prepares the student who possesses no professional automotive repair industry experience for satisfactory completion of the automotive electronics program. Topics include electrical systems, engine design and operation, transmission fundamentals, brake operation and chassis components. Materials fee: $25.00.

Emission Control Systems (2+1)
Emission testing operations with emphasis on Alaska emission standards and study of emission testing requirements in other states. Materials fee: $20.00.
AUTO 105 (1 Credit) Fall
Engine Analyzer and Scopes (0+2)
Use of automotive diagnostic analyzers for spark ignition engines. Exposure to engine performance analyzing equipment from a broad range of manufacturers. Emphasis on analysis of waveforms and digital data. Materials fee: $10.00.
AUTO 110 (4 Credits) Spring
Automotive Systems Electronics (2+4)
Electrical theory and fundamentals for automotive engines and support systems; basic AC and DC terms, concepts and principles; application of electronic components used in today's automobiles. Labs include the use of hand tools, electrical service tools and automotive diagnostic scan tools. Materials fee: $50.00.
AUTO 111 (4 Credits) Spring
Advanced Computer Control Systems (2+4)
Introduction to complex automotive control systems using electronic controllers and computer controls on engines, climate control and accessories found on modern automobiles. Includes system design, operation of and troubleshooting on many types of vehicles found today. Emphasis on diagnostic skills. Materials fee: $50.00.

Snowmachine Maintenance and Repair (1+0)
Fundamental skills for operation and repair. Engine tune-up, lubrication, belt and track repair, alignment, and basic problems encountered during operation.
AUTO 203 (2 Credits) Spring
Advanced Gasoline Fuel Injection and Ignition (1+2)
Troubleshooting skills required of the driveability and emission repair technician with emphasis on the use of on-board diagnostic data and specialized test equipment. Recent advances such as single injector multipoint fuel injection and OBD2 diagnostics will be covered. Materials fee: $20.00. (Prerequisite: AUTO 111 or permission of instructor.)
