“Accounting Rocks!” - a familiar phrase from those who have taken any accounting class with Assistant Professor and accounting program director, Dr. Amy Cooper.

Dr. Cooper was interviewed by Donny Shimamoto, host of the podcast Know-How Korner about her new study on keeping accountants in public firms. The episode, “What Keeps Accountants in Public Accounting? Research Unpacks Key Retention Factors,” mentions that Shimamoto has visited CBSM's student organization, Great Alaskan Accounting People (GAAP) as a guest speaker.

Throughout the conversation, Dr. Cooper shares meaningful details from her dissertation about employee retention and asks important questions; What really matters to each of your employees? What makes your employees excited about living in their community? What is your employee’s sacrifice?

The podcast gives insightful information into creating an individualized experience for employees, regardless of a firm’s size. Dr. Cooper completed her Doctorate of Business Administration in 2023 from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, researching employees’ turnover intentions in small and large accounting firms.
