The Great Alaskan Accounting People (GAAP) student organization hosted the 10th annual Alaska Native Corporations Seminar in a hybrid event on February 8, 2023. The theme for this event was “Looking to the Future” and what the future of Alaska Native Corporations will look like.

GAAP was honored to host several guest speakers including:

    • Audrey George, Owner/CEO of ANC Accounting
    • Ben Shilling, Chief Financial Officer at Tanana Chiefs Conference
    • Jennifer Babcock, Village Support Accountant at Tanana Chiefs Conference
    • Tanya Kaquatosh, Vice President of Administration at Doyon Limited
    • Walter Williams IV, Vice President of Finance at Arctic Slope Regional Corporation (ASRC)

These impactful community leaders talked about the change and innovation that Alaska Native Corporations will be undergoing in the coming years. These corporations have a wide range of future goals, from military partnering to employing more Alaskans. We learned that the possibilities are endless.

Following the presentations, questions from the audience covered a range of topics, including remote work policies and how COVID-19 changed the workforce.
