The CBSM marketing team earned third place in the category “Events and Observances (seven or fewer days)” based on their work on the UAF Arctic Innovation Competition, an annual idea contest that awards over $40,000 in cash prizes and awards. The first place winner in this category was GCI and second place went to First National Bank of Alaska.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 Arctic Innovation Competition changed from a one-day, in-person event to a multiday virtual event, with four evenings of semifinals and a 90-minute finals and award ceremony.
CBSM student marketing assistants Alanna Bailey, a business administration senior, and accounting sophomores Ivy Packee and Ashley Plys helped plan, market and host AIC 2021. Reworking a large, in-person event into a series of virtual events was a major undertaking that gave these students a chance to run their first major event and gain on-the-job experience.
The PRSA Aurora Awards annually recognize the best public relations work in Alaska.
