On April 20, student organization the Great Alaskan Accounting People (GAAP) hosted the 22nd annual Accounting Awards Ceremony.

Once again this year, GAAP welcomed the accounting community to join this virtual event, and the 34 attendees included SOM faculty and students, as well as accounting professionals.

This annual event is a chance to celebrate the many outstanding accounting students at the School of Management. Emceed by accounting instructor and GAAP advisor Amy Cooper, the event also featured accounting program director Dr. Charlie Sparks, GAAP president Kyle Brunger, and GAAP vice president Arnold Rivera.

This year, eight scholarships were presented to students by accounting professionals and SOM faculty.  A number of Outstanding Accounting Student awards, as well as several GAAP-specific awards, were presented to students who showed exceptional efforts over the past year. Thank you to BDO for once again generously sponsoring this event.

Congratulations to all the scholarship and award recipients – and to all our accounting students for another successful year!
