Students find their Professionally Polished style

Story by Ashley Plys, a sophomore pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a SOM student marketing assistant.

During the week of April 4, 2021, CBSM held its annual Professionally Polished program to help students find professional clothing.

The program includes the In My Element Shopping Spree and a shopping opportunity at Frank’s Menswear sponsored by Spirit of Alaska Federal Credit Union. Both opportunities are open to any CBSM student or CBSM student organization member. This event provided over 30 students with new clothes to help them start their professional wardrobe.

Frank’s Menswear Spending Spree & Styling

This year marks the fourth installment of this partnership among Spirit of Alaska FCU, Frank’s Menswear and CBSM. The event took place at Frank’s Menswear, where students were given a discount on their purchases, in addition to a clothing scholarship sponsored by Spirit of Alaska. Appointments were staggered in order to minimize exposure to COVID-19, and were held throughout the week of Professionally Polished.

In My Element Shopping Spree

The In My Element Shopping Spree was hosted in the Bunnell Building on the UAF campus. Students browsed the items donated by the popular local business and selected clothes, shoes and accessories to take home. For this portion of the Professionally Polished program, CBSM students and student organization members signed up for appointments to spread out the shoppers and minimize their exposure to COVID-19. Each student was able to shop through the items to find outfits that caught their eye to make them feel trendy and confident.
