Birds and Poultry Project
The 4-H Birds and Poultry project provides youth a fun and hands-on learning experience that develops life skills, as well as teaches valuable information about properly caring for their birds. This project will help participants get involved in embryology, poultry judging, growing, and managing a small flock of birds. Project members will learn about breeds of poultry and poultry anatomy, examine the parts of a chicken egg and their function, learn about diseases and health care, and select and show broilers. You will gain business experience and insight into the values and principles of purchasing, marketing, financial record keeping, and obtaining credit. In addition, this project will help you understand the poultry industry and its role in agriculture and the economy.
