Distinctions

Young plant is vase shaped, mature plant rounded with horizontal branching pattern; exfoliating bark; dark green leaves turning deep red in autumn; showy 3” bracts; flowers arranged above leaves, aging from creamy white to pinkish white; ¾” red fruit in September; needs moist well-drained acid with sun; can tolerate partial shade.

Limitations

Borer and leaf spot; susceptible to insect and disease if grown in inappropriate locations.
