Distinctions

Irregular, picturesque habit; shrubby or prostrate; when young; tree-like with age; bottlebrush appearance; good in dry rocky soils; tolerates full wind with little winter burn; longest lived tree species; needles in clusters of 5; .75"-1.5" long, with white resin dots.

Limitations

Slow growing; needs well-drained soil and more testing in southeast Alaska.
