Limitations

Poor survival in Kodiak and all of SE except sunny warm microclimates; some cultivars are not hardy in INT while others survive in the warmest sites with winter protection; best fall color when planted in sunny site.

‘Red Flame’ exceptional bright red fall color.; ‘Ventura’® (‘Durone’) (Acer tataricum x A. tataricum subsp. ginnala); upright form; vigorous grower; tolerates alkaline soils; orange-red fall color 20' tall, 15' wide; developed at the Morden Research Station in Manitoba.
