Distinctions

Multi-stemmed large shrub; ornamental appeal in all seasons; multi-stemmed with silver bark; purplish bronze young leaves turning green in summer then orange to red autumn color; pink flower buds become white flowers on long 4” racemes; sweet edible purplish black fruit that draws birds; full sun to partial shade; tolerates a range of soils.

Limitations

Can be a host for apple (serviceberry)/cedar rust; susceptible to leaf spot.
