• Dr. James Begét has served the University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 1984 to 2016.  He has received prestigious national and international awards, including the André Dumont Science Medal from the Geological Society of Belgium, and was named a Fellow of the Geological Society of America; and served in numerous important professional and public service roles, including as a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and as a panelist for the Ford Foundation minority scholarship and fellowship program.
