To UAF staff and faculty:

UA Board of Regents’ Policy 10.06.010 (PDF) allows for an expedited, exceptional program review process tailored to UAF’s particular financial circumstances. At the Sept. 12 Board of Regents meeting, UAF, UAA and UAS were asked to move forward with expedited reviews to potentially find cost savings. As such, UAF will be conducting expedited program reviews during the 2019-2020 academic year. We have finalized the review process (PDF) and the list of departments and programs (PDF) that will be reviewed based on low enrollment and high cost. These documents are posted on the Announcements page of my website.

Expedited review will focus on department and program enrollments, cost effectiveness, academic quality and centrality to UAF’s mission. We are reviewing approximately half of departments on the Troth Yeddha’ campus, as well as high-cost low-enrollment CRCD/CTC programs and previously suspended programs.

Committees will be appointed to include representatives recommended by Faculty Senate, ASUAF and Staff Council. Should the department or program wish, two representatives will be able to attend committee discussions. The process is scheduled to commence immediately and conclude in April 2020.
