Alaska megastorms vs. East Coast hurricanes

My friend Hal called the other day from a parking garage in Punta Gorda, Florida. In his car he had nine one-gallon jugs of water, a red-plastic container of gasoline and a motorcycle helmet. Hal, a former Alaskan, is a hurricane expert living in Galveston, Texas. He sometimes plants himself in vulnerable places and sends storm updates to his Twitter and Facebook followers.

Alaska INBRE multi-year developmental research pilot project request for proposals now open

The request for proposals period is now open. Letter of intent is due by Oct. 15, 2022, and the submission date and time is Nov. 30, 2022 at 5 p.m. AKT. Budget total is up to $150,000 and the the funding period is May 2023 to June 30, 2024. For more information read the full FOA.

Spring 2023 degree completion awards open

The UAF Graduate School is pleased to announce it is now accepting spring 2023 degree completion award applications. The window to apply is open now through Nov. 1, 2022. Learn more and apply.


Concur's new User Interface now live

Concur's new User Interface is now live. The new experience will apply to Request and Expense; the booking experience (Travel) will remain the same. The UA Travel website has been updated to reflect these changes. We are hosting drop in sessions to assist with the transition.

Free disaster preparation workshops scheduled for Friday

A series of free workshops on Friday, Oct. 7, will teach attendees about putting together an emergency kit, what kind of generator to buy and how to maintain a water supply, among other tips.
