Magma beneath long-dormant Mount Edgecumbe volcano in Southeast Alaska has been moving
upward through Earth’s crust, according to research the Alaska Volcano Observatory
rapidly produced using a new method. The new approach at the observatory could lead to earlier detection of volcanic unrest
in Alaska.

taking 6 credits or more. Students can visit Outdoor Adventures on Wednesday, Oct.
26 or Thursday, Nov. 3 from noon to 5 p.m. to get their pass.
University of Alaska Fairbanks researchers have been selected to develop a suicide-prevention
program that will focus on Alaska-based Army soldiers. Researchers will work to understand and emphasize protective factors in a military
context.
The Faculty Senate Open Educational Resources Ad Hoc Committee invites students to
take a brief survey on how they use textbooks. Responses are anonymous and will be used for informing the committee's outreach and
education activities. The survey is open until 11:59 p.m., Nov. 4.
