The University of Alaska Fairbanks School of Management will honor Joe Usibelli Jr.
as its 44th Business Leader of the Year during a sold-out dinner and award ceremony
at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, in the Westmark Fairbanks Hotel's Gold Room.
This course covers ways employees may present their distress and offers insights and
strategies on forging supportive empathic alliances within the role of manager. Participants
are also given information on how to refer employees to the Employee Assistance Program.

This is the final week of the Winter Wellness campaign in MBS! Students can stop by the Student Health and Counseling table in the
MBS between noon and 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18 to chat and gather ideas and resources for getting out and about and exploring their
surroundings this winter. They can also pick up a Save the Date reminder for the Winter Wellness Party taking place Dec. 2, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in Hess Rec.
The IAB Life Sciences Seminars continue through a combined format, in-person and via Zoom. This week, Kristin Denryter, Ph.D., wildlife physiologist and director of the Foraging
Ecology & Wildlife Nutritional Analysis Lab, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, will
present "Straight from the caribou's mouth: tame animals reveal nutritional value

Education students can create a series of STEM lessons and earn $2,500! Students must
be an elementary or secondary teacher education student doing a classroom practicum.
Students are encouraged to incorporate NASA education materials in all classrooms,
including visual and performing arts, social studies, health and physical education,
and the humanities. Applications for the 2023 spring semester are due Dec. 1, 2022.

Deadlines and reminders
Though our initial deadline for book adoptions has passed (Oct. 28), we are still
accepting book adoptions so materials are available for students in time to prepare
for spring classes! If you have any questions about the book adoption process, please don't hesitate to

The University Advocacy Committee is starting a conversation about what staff members
do or experience during the winter times that helps them stay healthy and happy. We
will be posting some questions for staff (faculty can join in too), and we will collect
responses and photos for over a few weeks then send out another post such as this
with a new link to the next week or two's questions and some of the responses we received
from the previous questions.
