Peter Westley named finalist for 2022 edX prize for innovation in online teaching

Peter Westley, an associate professor at UAF's College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, is among 10 finalists for the 2022 edX Prize for Exceptional Contributions in Online Teaching and Learning. The award, now in its seventh year, recognizes educators who have demonstrated a commitment to the open and online education community and have taught courses and programs that continue to inspire and engage edX learners worldwide.


Compliance Alliance Tips and Facts: Research

The Compliance Alliance committee was created in Fall 2021 to focus on the many compliance requirements at UAF. Did you know that many experiments involving genetic modification of an organism or the use of recombinant DNA technology (including CRISPR) need review by the UAF Institutional Biosafety Committee? The Compliance Alliance meets monthly to evaluate risks associated with compliance issues, identify university policies that need to be enhanced and analyze the effectiveness of compliance processes across campus.

Join Chancellor White and the university community for the annual holiday gathering on Dec. 6 from 4-6 p.m. Wood Center multilevel lounge and mall area. Refreshments will be served and the UAF Jazz Combo will perform. Staff and faculty are encouraged to donate non-perishable items to the Wood Center Food Pantry. Kick-Off Day on Dec. 3

It is time for students to register for Spring 2023! The Registration Week Kick-Off event lets students meet with representatives from most UAF student services organizations in one place. Academic advisors will be ready to go over registration steps and answer any questions students have. This fair-style event also features experts from the Financial Aid Office, Office of the Registrar, Department of Residence Live and Dining, Department of Military and Veteran Services, Student Success Center and more. Students who register for nine or more credits before Dec. 10 will be entered to win prizes. Visit the Registration Week page for more information.


Last UAF flu shot clinic of the season!

The UAF Student Health and Counseling Center is offering its final flu vaccine clinic of the season for students, faculty and staff (to include partners of faculty and staff). Any questions can be directed to the Student Health and Counseling Center at 907-474-7043. Help keep Nanook Nation healthy!


Staff Council food drive for student pantry

UAF Staff Council is hosting a food drive to support the UAF Food Pantry. If your department is participating, put a food box in your area to collect non-perishable/shelf-stable food and toiletries. Thank you for supporting our students!
