The University of Alaska has released the first in a series of informational reports
designed to aid state leaders as Alaska confronts a rapidly changing Arctic and the
increasingly globalized North.
Sometimes less is more. As you may have seen in the past several semesters, I have
been releasing a newsletter each semester. However, moving forward, I would like to
announce that I will be switching to a weekly column in the Cornerstone which will
be called "Academic Tuesdays." Through this column, I will be sharing some of the
academic initiatives and noteworthy achievements with all of you. Academic Tuesdays
will also provide an opportunity for you to hear from several of the units that report
to me.
We highly encourage advisors, instructors, and staff to sign up for Nanook Navigator
training over the next few months. The training sessions are open to all Nanook Navigator
users (staff and faculty advisors, instructors, student employees, front desk staff,
etc.).
The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service will lead a lifestyle
coach training course for individuals or organizations interested in offering a face-to-face
group diabetes prevention program. The course will meet in person on Jan. 27-28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Anchorage. Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance may reimburse tuition costs;
waivers also available.
