Today is the final day to submit nominations for the 2023 Chancellor's Cornerstone Award. The award recognizes UAF staff members who have shown outstanding and ongoing commitment to UAF's community and mission. Submit a nomination using the online form.

Pikok honored by Explorers Club for conservation work

University of Alaska Fairbanks graduate student Kimberly Kivvaq Pikok has been honored for her conservation efforts by the Explorers Club. The international organization, which is dedicated to the advancement of field exploration and scientific inquiry, honored Pikok as one of its "50 People Changing the World That the World Needs to Know About." 


One Health, One Future volunteers and vendors needed

The UAF Center for One Health Research is hosting an international conference, One Health, One Future, from Feb. 28 to March 3 at the Westmark Fairbanks Hotel and Conference Center. In order to run this event, we are looking for contributing participants and vendors!


NSF Accelerating Research Translation program white paper submission sought

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research is soliciting white papers for the National Science Foundation’s Accelerating Research Translation program. Anticipated Funding Amount: Up to $6,000,000 per award for a duration of 4 years. Visit this Google doc for more information about the program and submission process. Submissions are due by March 3.


State of the University Address

President Pat Pitney will provide an update Feb. 21 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Westmark Gold Room on the important role the University of Alaska system has in the state’s economic recovery and in building Alaska’s workforce; the contributions of UA’s world-class research; and highlight excellence across the university system. Graduation Fair to take place Feb. 22

A Graduation Fair will take place Wednesday, Feb. 22, from noon to 3 p.m. in the Wood Center ballroom. There will be a check-in at the fair for students who may be eligible to graduate this year. Please respond by Feb. 17 (deadline has been extended) to let us know you’ll be there. Please share this with your graduation-eligible students!

Museum offers art and science workshops for teens

The University of Alaska Museum of the North will kick off the spring session of the ARTSci Teen Workshops on Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 1-2:30 p.m. ARTSci Teen Studio is open to 13- to 18-year-olds. Preregistration is required, and teens can sign up for one event or the entire series.


Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Opportunity

Faculty participating in this program will have the opportunity to address equity gaps in online courses at UAF by implementing course-level, equity-focused interventions. Applications are due by Feb. 20.
