Join us on Thursday, Feb. 23 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Murie Auditorium for Alex Hunt's public talk, Where the Far North Meets the Southwest: Western American Studies, Climate Work, and the Fiction of Leslie Marmon Silko. Deadline to apply for graduation is March 1

The late deadline for students to apply for graduation is March 1, 2023. Graduates must submit their application to Degree Services by 11:59 p.m. Graduates who have already applied or graduated who plan to participate in commencement on May 6 must RSVP for the ceremony by April 15.

UAF research contributes to progress on fusion energy

Fairbanks and nuclear fusion research usually aren’t mentioned in the same sentence. But they could be. Plasma physicist David Newman at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute is a leading researcher in nuclear fusion energy. His latest research, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, is in magnetic confinement fusion, one of two major pathways in the nuclear fusion field. Learn more.

Bivalent COVID-19 boosters available

The UAF Student Health and Counseling Center is offering students, faculty and staff bivalent COVID-19 boosters by appointment during the spring 2023 semester. Any questions can be directed to the SHCC at 907-474-7043.

UAF to host Science Olympiad for first time

Science Olympiad will take place Feb. 24-25 at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, which is hosting the Alaska student competition for the first time. Learn more.

The weekly Music at One series continues every Thursday at 1 p.m. with the UAF Department of Music. This concert hour allows students to exercise their performance practice in front of a live audience. They are free and open to the public. You can watch the live performances, which will be held  through April 27, on the UAF Department of Music's YouTube channel or in person in the Davis Concert Hall. Read more.
