Nanook Recreation fall group fitness classes

Nanook Recreation is offering a variety of fitness classes for the fall semester. We will offer some familiar programs such as Intro to Strength Training, Intermediate Strength Training, Intro to Olympic Weightlifting, Mat Pilates, Outdoor Bootcamp, and Indoor Cycling. Classes are being added through the fall so keep checking in to our group fitness calendar for the latest offerings. 


Regular & Substantive Interaction session

Join instructional designers Clara Noomah and Kendell Newman Sadiik via Zoom to review the Department of Education's guidelines on "Regular and Substantive Interaction" and work with a customized UAF RSI checklist. The same session will be offered twice; sign-up to attend on Tuesday, Sept. 5 from 1- 2:30 p.m. or Monday, Sept. 11 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.


Responsible Conduct of Research training

Responsible Conduct of Research is a required training for undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers supported by NSF awards and UAF's training is open to all UAF-, UAS- and Ilisagvik-affiliated individuals. Email Carla McCain in the Office of Research Integrity to sign up for the Saturday, Sept. 30 session from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or the Tuesday, Oct. 3 session from 1-4:30 p.m.

Ice Block Classic food truck rally on Sept. 9

The rally will include up to a dozen local food trucks in the Patty Center parking lot starting at noon and will carry on through the day until the 7:30 p.m. Saturday night game. Fans in attendance who buy food will not be required to buy a ticket with proof of food purchase from the vendors. Read more on the rally and matches.


URSA faculty review panel opportunities

The Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity is seeking members for the 2023-2024 URSA application review panel (first review opportunities start Sept. 13). Faculty from all UAF campuses and disciplines are invited.

CTC celebrates Fire Academy graduates

Thirty students graduated Aug. 18 from the 2023 Summer Fire Academy operated by the University of Alaska Fairbanks Community and Technical College. Read more about the fire academy and graduates.
