A fashion designer and filmmaker model garments from the Sea Ice Collection

Arctic sea ice in New York Fashion Week

Arctic sea ice made its debut as wearable art during New York Fashion Week. The Sea Ice Collection promotes sustainable "slow fashion" in an unexpected collaboration between scientists at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, artists and fashion designers. The garments are patterned after cross sections of sea ice collected by scientist Marc Oggier during a research expedition in 2019. Learn more about the Sea Ice Collection.
