BLaST celebrates December, January Scientist of the Month

Since 2016, the Biomedical Learning and Student Training program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks has highlighted scientists from all biomedical fields through its Scientist of the Month articles. Second-year UAF BLaST Scholar and senior Maggie House was selected as the December 2023 and January 2024 BLaST Scientist of the Month. Learn more about House and her research on monitoring water quality, as well as work with multiple organizations.

Pesticide applicator training scheduled for January, April

A three-day certified pesticide applicator training course is scheduled for Jan. 30-Feb. 1, with a second course planned for April 23-25. Both will be taught by the University Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service via Zoom and available statewide. Learn more and register.

The coyotes of San Francisco

As we were hiking up one of the many trails through the Presidio, there appeared a coyote, quite close. Wary but accustomed to operating close to people, it crunched on the remains of something feathered. Heather got some nice photos before the coyote disappeared into the brush.
