Join the UAF Alaska Center for Climate Assessment and Policy for our annual green-up in the boreal forest webinar. Green-up, that time when leaves burst forth from Alaska’s deciduous trees, has important implications for the seasonal ecology, society and even meteorology in the state. This webinar April 30 at 11 a.m. will be the fifth annual review of the green-up forecasting tools and will provide a look-ahead for green-up for Spring 2024. One Tree will demonstrate citizen science-outreach tools for birch tappers and others. Read more and register.

Reminder: Butrovich Data Center outage on May 11-18 to impact internet access

UAF Facilities Services will conduct a planned maintenance power shutdown in the Butrovich Building to integrate a maintenance bypass switch for the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) for the Butrovich Data Center (BDC). The switch will ensure a seamless and continuous power supply to the BDC in the event of a UPS outage or during annual maintenance on the UPS. The BDC electrical system must be temporarily powered down to ensure the safety of technicians doing the work. Read more on the outage.
