Public talk: importance of meditation to well-being by Zen master

A visiting Zen master, Barbara (Bobby) Rhodes, will present a public talk at the Well (334 Duckering Building, UAF) on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. The talk will be about the importance of meditation practice in promoting the well-being of ourselves and those around us. Alaska 4-H kicks off new program year with a special day

Youths and volunteers across Alaska are enrolling in 4-H as the program year begins this October. They're also celebrating the inaugural Alaska State 4-H Day on Wednesday, Oct. 2, and National 4-H Week, Oct. 7-12. Learn more about the celebration.


First Friday Central Heat and Powerplant tour Oct. 4

The Utilities Operation department gives tours of the Central Heat and Powerplant on the first Friday of each month. Oct. 4 is the first Friday for October so reserve your spot at uaf-chptours@alaska.edu to see what all the hubbub is about! The tour starts at 1:30 p.m. and lasts approximately 1.5 hours.

Remote energy leaders can collaborate to advance energy projects

The Energy Leadership Accelerator application period is now open. ELA is a new program that connects energy leaders from remote and islanded communities, including those in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories, to advance local energy projects and workforce development. Read more on the program; the application period closes Oct. 31.
