R1 forum to detail workshop results

Chancellor Dan White will host an R1 forum on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 1-2 p.m. in the Davis Concert Hall and online via UAF's YouTube channel. The event will focus on the results of the recent R1 strategy workshop that drew more than 60 UAF students and employees. The forum will include time for audience questions. All members of the UAF community are encouraged to attend. Read more about the forum.

UAF-OLLI Recruitment for spring 2025

Want to share your passion and knowledge? UAF's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute is currently seeking volunteer instructors for the spring. It's a wonderful, low-stress opportunity to gain teaching experience with a friendly audience. The deadline for spring course proposals is Nov. 22. Learn more and submit a course proposal.

Healthy Children Lecture Series: Tips and tricks for talking with teens

Join UAF Summer Sessions for the first of a new lecture series called Healthy Children on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Noel Wien Library Auditorium. This free lecture features Dr. Mishelle Nace, and is titled "Tips and Tricks for Talking with Teens: What you say or don't say to your teen matters." Learn more about the lecture series.

Register for URSA's Mentor Development Workshop: Jan. 28-29

URSA is hosting a two-day, in-person Mentor Development Workshop for UAF mentors of undergraduate students in all disciplines led by trainers from the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium in partnership with the Marine Science Laboratory Alliance Center of Excellence. Read more and register.

Learner-generated drawing potential for both learning and assessment

In learner-generated drawing activities, students employ multiple cognitive and muscular skeletal processes to produce illustrations based on verbal, text or other information. When properly supported as a learning activity, students tend to retain information longer and more accurately, than traditional methods. A Place for Knowledge Exchange brunch and presentation

The facilitators of the seminar series A Place for Knowledge Exchange invite you to a collaboration brunch at 10 a.m. hosted by the International Arctic Research Center and College of Indigenous Studies. From 11 a.m. to noon on Friday, Nov. 15, Chris Maio, Casey Fergson and Angela Johnson with the Alaska Coastal Cooperative will give a presentation about working toward a community-first approach to climate resilience. Contestants needed for facial hair competition

Anyone may participate in the Facial Hair/Bearding Competition at UAF's Polar Grizz Festival on Friday, Nov. 22 from 6-8 p.m. in the Wood Center Multi-Level Lounge. UA Foundation seeks nominations for 2024 Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence

The University of Alaska Foundation is accepting nominations for the 2024 Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence. The prize, which includes a $20,000 award, is presented to an individual who has demonstrated excellence in support of the University of Alaska. Any UA student, faculty, staff, alumni or volunteer who has made a significant contribution to the university's mission is eligible to be nominated. The deadline to submit complete nomination packets is Dec. 19. Read more and submit a deserving nominee!
