UAF faculty, staff and students,
Thank you for being a part of a safe and healthy UAF community. As we gear up for
an exciting year ahead, I am sharing a reminder about our Title IX training and reporting
obligations.
UA Safe Title IX Training is required for all students, employees, and volunteers and must be completed by Oct. 31, 2024.
Beginning this year, UAF students and employees must complete the UA Safe Title IX Training in Canvas. The training will take approximately 1 hour to complete. If needed, you
may start and stop at any point and your progress will be saved. If you are experiencing
technical difficulties, please contact Nanook Technology Services at helpdesk@alaska.edu or 907-450-8300.
The following online resources are available:
Please remember all UAF faculty and staff are “responsible employees.” This means that university employees are required to report any sex- or gender-based
discrimination, including sexual assault and sexual harassment to our campus Title
IX coordinator at the UAF Office of Rights, Compliance and Accountability within 24
hours.
A Note about Possible Changes Regarding the 2024 Title IX Regulation Updates
In April 2024, the Department of Education announced new Title IX regulations set
to be implemented by August 1, 2024. On July 2nd, an injunction covering the state
of Alaska was granted, delaying the implementation of new Title IX regulations until
legal disagreements are settled. Currently, UAF continues to operate under the 2020
regulations. As new information regarding 2024 regulations is released, ORCA will
provide updates to campus.
Thanks for choosing UAF,
Dan White, chancellor
