2023 Midnight Sun Science Symposium - Save the Date!

Registration for the 2023 Midnight Sun Science Symposium scheduled for April 13-14 in the Murie Building is open! This symposium, hosted by the Biology Graduate Student Association, is an interdisciplinary research conference that encourages the participation of University of Alaska undergraduate and graduate students of all scientific disciplines to showcase their scientific excellence, including those from UAA and UAS. The deadline for abstract submission is March 31 by 11:59 p.m.

Lavender Graduation

The Nanook Diversity and Action Center will be hosting the University of Alaska Fairbanks' Fifth Lavender Graduation to honor our students on Saturday, April 8 in the Wood Center Ballroom from noon to 2 p.m. The ceremony will be held both in-person and online to ensure as many students as possible are able to participate. Please join the Nanook Diversity and Action Center in celebrating Women's History month with our FemCon event taking place March 29-31 in the Wood Center. The NDAC office is hosting three days of programming events ranging from workshops, panels, raffles, a free Emily Anderson concert and more. Mental Health First Aid classes offered in Spring

Student Health and Counseling will be teaching Mental Health First Aid to those interested on March 23-24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (class already full), and April 13-14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This course is open to any student, staff, faculty or administration members, and will cover valuable information for personal and professional use. Volunteers needed for May 6 commencement ceremony

Volunteers are needed to assist with UAF's 101st commencement ceremony starting at 11 a.m. on
May 6
. Parking attendants, greeters and information table support are all needed. If you’re interested in helping at this special event, email Carla Browning. It will be a busy day but a rewarding one as we celebrate our graduates' accomplishments.

Dance instructor Daniel Ponickly.UAF Summer Sessions offering ballroom dance class for couples

Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning presents an eight-session ballroom dance class taught by Daniel Ponickly on Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 4-27, from 7-8 p.m. at the SRC. The cost is $150 per couple - all couples welcome! Register to learn the steps and techniques of simple and fun lead-and-follow partner dancing with your partner or a friend!

Volunteers needed for URSA's Research and Creative Activity Day

The Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity will hold the 2023 Research and Creative Activity Day event on April 6 in the Wood Center Multilevel Lounge, and we are in need of volunteers! Whether you have an hour or a whole day, we would appreciate any on-campus assistance to help make this the best event it can be. We have a variety of roles to accommodate your schedule and interest throughout the day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you are interested in helping us out this year, please contact Erin Kirchner.


Molly CainCFOS Seminar: Linking dynamic connectivity and hydrologic response

The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences will host a seminar on Friday, March 24 from 3-4 p.m. at O’Neill 201 in Fairbanks and via Zoom, including a showing in Juneau at Lena 101. featuring Molly Cain, associate director for research at Alaska Sea Grant. Cain will present “Linking dynamic connectivity and hydrological response.” Please register in advance.
