ASGP 2024-25 undergrad research apprenticeships

Undergraduate students from any science, technology, engineering or mathematics fields are eligible to apply for a $7,300 stipend to conduct a research or engineering project directly related to NASA's interests. UAF Bookstore Bundle

UAF is making it more affordable and convenient for students to access their required course materials with the launch of the UAF Bookstore Bundle. Through this program, students will have the option to rent all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes, digital materials and electronic books for a flat fee. Materials can be conveniently delivered by the first day of class. All eligible students are automatically enrolled upon registering for classes. The option to opt-out is available for students who prefer to purchase their course materials on their own. Learn more about the new program.

Wrangell students install remote bear live stream

Wrangell-based T3 Alliance students installed a remote live-stream camera system at the Anan Wildlife Observatory in the Tongass National Forest, enabling viewers to see black and brown bears fishing for salmon. This project, supported by the U.S. Forest Service, involved high school students using skills from the T3 Alaska program. The system is powered by solar energy and uses Starlink for video feed. Explore.org hosts the stream, and the project is set for a five-year expansion plan. The live stream began on July 24. Read more about the students' work to install the live-stream system.

Student performance notifications Aug. 30 - Sept. 13

Instructors will email performance feedback to students about concerns and recognition of hard work through the UAF notifications system called Nanook Navigator from Aug. 30 to Sept. 13 and throughout the semester. Read more about the notifications.

Lifeguard certification

Nanook Recreation is hosting two lifeguard certification classes in September. Successful participants will earn a deep water lifeguarding certification from the American Red Cross, which is valid to work at the UAF Patty Pool as well as all other pools in the borough.
