New thesis, dissertation services:
The UAF Writing Center now offers a dedicated staff member to support graduate students working on their theses and dissertations. The center's new graduate writing support specialist, Victoria Oyewola, is available to work with graduate students at every stage of their writing process, from brainstorming to revising their theses and dissertations. Get help in all phases of the writing process — brainstorming and generating topics, organizing ideas, developing research strategies, using citation styles (MLA, APA and Chicago), and editing for clarity and correctness.
Our services
The Writing Center at UAF provides tutoring support to students at any phase of the writing process — planning, drafting and revising. We can help writers discover ways of improving grammar, mechanics and punctuation, as well as provide access to writing resources such as dictionaries, style guides, handbooks, a computing lab and printing.

Fall/spring semester
- Monday-Thursday:10 a.m.-4 p.m., 7-9 p.,m.
- Friday: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
- Saturday: 3-5 p.m. (online only)
- Sunday: 1-5 p.m.

Writing Center appointments
The Writing Center is a student-staffed tutoring service focused on building the writing skills of the UAF learning community. We offer one-hour tutorial sessions in-person or by Zoom.
Writing guides and resources
Patrons, in addition to being tutored by center staff, are welcome to use our computer laboratory (19 PCs, 1 Mac) and our many resources — dictionaries, handbooks, style guides and more.
