About the Mining and Petroleum Training Service

The University of Alaska established the Mining and Petroleum Training Service in 1979 to deliver training, development and consulting services to the resource industries of Alaska. Since that time MAPTS has trained over 100,000+ individuals and has offices in Soldotna and Anchorage which serve the entire state.

MAPTS has conducted resource industry training and worker certification for 45 years.  Our current focus is IADC WellSharp Certification, Mine Safety and Health Training, parts 46 & 48, and hard skills training for underground and surface mine operations.

In addition, MAPTS provides customized employment training for a variety of employers and agencies in the resource industries and provides professional training & development and consulting services.

MAPTS clients include Alaska mining and petroleum companies, federal, state, and municipal agencies, Alaska Native corporations, environmental firms, and industrial health and safety organizations, including:
