SBIR Accelerator Feeds Alaska Business Appetite
April 6, 2022
The first SBIR/STTR accelerator program in Alaska sponsored by Center ICE, in collaboration with New Mexico State University’s Arrowhead Center, Montana State University's TechLink, and the University of Idaho, kicked off this month.
A total of 13 small businesses from Alaska are participating, representing a wide variety of industries including education and clean technologies. The access of non-dilutive funding through federal agencies provides a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to develop and expand their research and development efforts with a potential to commercialize or contract with federal agencies in the future.
Since the SBIR/STTR program inception in 1982, Alaskan companies have received a total of just 42 awards, and in the past five years only four. Center ICE is here to provide the resources and guidance to tap into this funding opportunity for our state’s inspiring innovators.
The second cohort will start in fall 2022. Reach out to Evelyn Jacome to learn more about this program and submit an application via email to: edjacome@alaska.edu
