Center ICE is pleased to announce its continued partnership with and support from the Office of Naval Research. ONR provided the foundation upon which Center ICE was initially built. Four years ago, Center ICE was just an idea and an opportunity to fill a major gap in Alaska’s innovation ecosystem. Today, Center ICE has multiple major partners, and has supported nearly a hundred innovators, entrepreneurs, and student interns.

The activities in this second phase of Center ICE’s partnership with ONR will be based on the experience and knowledge that we’ve gained. Foremost, Center ICE will focus on building out the Innovation Accelerator, a targeted set of programs and resources for helping Alaska innovations achieve their greatest impact.

Center ICE’s continued partnership with ONR falls under ONR’s broader Alaska Regional Collaboration for Technology Innovation and Commercialization (ARCTIC) II initiative. This effort will continue through 2024. Under this initiative, Center ICE will be working closely with the Alaska Center for Energy and Power and community partners to create innovation hubs in rural communities around Alaska.

The Office of Naval Research deserves great credit for their vision and foresight in leading the United States to a more resilient presence in the Arctic. We greatly appreciate their partnership and support.
