New UAF Program will Help Co-develop Innovative, Interdisciplinary Projects

April 10, 2023

UAF faculty, staff, and researchers from all disciplines are invited to a Research Ideation Studio mixer 2–4 p.m. Thursday, April 13 in the UAF BP Design Theater, 401 Usibelli Bldg.

The Ideation Studio is a new program designed to help researchers and scholars connect, spark innovative ideas, and co-develop new interdisciplinary projects geared toward problem-solving and generation of positive societal impacts. At the mixer, the Ideation Studio team will facilitate activities for networking, research ideation, and project development for researchers from across the disciplines (arts, humanities, STEM, and other fields). Opportunities to apply for $10K in seed funding will be offered to newly formed teams.

This event's theme is Connectivity. What does connectivity mean in your discipline and your own research? What could it mean if you partnered with researchers from other disciplines on one of your research topics? Or, what if you applied "connectivity" to a brand-new research theme you plan to pursue with a transdisciplinary team?

Faculty, staff, researchers, and others with a research component to their position are welcome. This particular event isn't designed for students, but students may be involved in projects later through seed grants or other opportunities.

The Ideation Studio is sponsored by The MIX @UAF and Center ICE, with support from the Office of Naval Research.
