Tips and Best Practices
- Content needs to be directed toward families, the audience is the family member, not the student.
- Instead of “you,” use “ your student”
- Use language that includes all people
- “family” instead “parent,”
- “your student” instead of “your son or daughter”
- “they” instead of “he or she”
- Welcome additional questions and provide contact information for department/office.
- Suggested length is between 2-10 paragraphs
- Break up long content into sections.
- Use bulleted lists when appropriate
- Content must adhere to University Relations editorial guidelines
- The material should be relatable and relevant to students and family members
- Be clear about why your information is important
- Include a “call to action”
- Include hyperlinks whenever possible
- Include a photo or video
- Photos should be at least 600px wide, horizontal photos work best
- Videos must be hosted on YouTube
- Uploading a .jpg or .png is easier than providing a url to an image, but both options are available.
- All students featured must have provided a UAF model release, best practice is to only use official UAF photos taken by UAF photographers.
- Please allow up to 5 business days for administrator review once your post has been submitted.
