Our mission
The UAF Communication Center increases the personal, professional, and civic impact of UAF by enhancing the communication competence of its community members.
Our services
Coaches at the UAF Communication Center can assist with visual aids, interview prep, elevator speeches, presentation practice and more! We also help students in structuring speech outlines, developing thesis statements, managing communication anxiety and honing nonverbal skills.

Other services
Individual or group in-person or virtual appointments
Make an appointment with the Communication Center to receive help in developing, organizing, writing, delivering, and refining an individual or group presentation. We can help address speech or presentation anxiety. Students may have their presentations digitally recorded for review and feedback.
Our coaches can provide critical feedback and guidance for visual aid materials used alongside a speech or presentation such as slide shows and infographics.
Let us help prepare you for your entrance into the job or internship world with our interview prep. Schedule an appointment with a Communication Center coach to practice interviewing, interviewing tips, and tricks for overcoming interview anxiety.
We offer workshops on a variety of topics from public speaking to science communication. If you have an idea for a workshop, please reach out via email.
Faculty teaching oral-intensive courses can request that members of the Communication Center staff visit their class and deliver a fifteen minute, thirty minute, or sixty minute presentation on effective public speaking and presentation. These presentations can be adapted to fit the needs of the faculty member's class, including modality. Faculty can request that the Communication Center staff come to their class for a five minute or less introduction of the Communication Center facilities.
