Art Camp

This class will introduce drawing, painting, and sculpture! Students will work in the studio and outdoors. Unique pieces from each student will be exhibited in a final show in the Art Department gallery.

Acrobatic Arts Camp

Acrobatic Dance, or acro, is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. This course will combine unique choreography, blend musicality, emotional expression, line and extension all while using acrobatic movements in a dance context. Acro techniques include balancing, limbering, tumbling and partnering, based on flexibility, contortion and strength. No prior experience is necessary..

Aerial Silks I Camp

Beginners welcome; this class is the perfect way to spark your aerial silks fire! We start with the basic maneuvers in a 1 Coach to 8 Student (max), hands-on course. You will get the “hang” of the foundational concepts and start progressing into a dynamic series of moves that will be sure to wear you out, in a good way!

Aerial Silks II Camp

This movement-based arts class takes you to grander heights and larger drops! Experience is needed in Dancers Foot Locks, Climbs and Inversions. Students take flight up to 24 feet off the ground completing sequences of moves and working on complete control of body movement. The art of fluidity and strength are core concepts along with intricate knot work around the body.

Alaska Grown Food Camp

Explore ways to grow nutritious and delicious food in your own backyard! In this camp we will harvest (and taste!) Alaska grown food, as well as learn about the health benefits of fresh, locally sourced foods.

Archaeology Camp

Learn from professional archaeologists on how to decipher clues from ancient artifacts and animal bones. Campers will participate in a simulated archaeological dig and learn what it takes to be a real-life archaeologist.

Automata Camp

Explore simple machines and mechanical engineering to create cardboard automata. These machines use cams, levers, and linkages to create moving sculptures. We'll build a variety of automata ranging from simple to complex in this week-long engineering challenge.

Babysitting and CPR Camp

Activities included will give the participants the knowledge and skills to have a successful babysitting business. A few things covered are - how to safely develop a babysitting business, diapering, feeding, playing and most importantly keeping themselves and others safe. Basic first aid is covered as well as responding to emergencies such as fire, choking and CPR.

Bug Camp

Learn about Alaska’s insects and their relatives - from our beautiful butterflies and dragonflies to our less-loved mosquitoes and spiders. Through field, forest and pond, under rocks, in flowers and everywhere else, we’ll collect (catch and release and specimens for display) and study these fascinating many-legged tiny animals.

Clay Camp (2 weeks)

This is a two-week camp where students will learn different ways to create, decorate, and glaze pots during this hands-on, educational week of fun with clay. Projects will range from functional to sculptural and will be different from prior years. Artwork will be fired and presented at a student exhibition reception in the UAF Ceramics Studio on the last day of camp.

Dance and Choreography Camp

Learn to develop dance technique and vocabulary while creating your own choreography! Each day we'll start with warm ups and honing dance technique, then we'll observe and analyze the work of famous choreographers, and round out the day by choreographing our own solo and ensemble performances. No prior dance experience required and all styles of dance welcome.

Lets get hands on with how rocks formed! This year's geology camp will compare the geology of Mars, Venus, Earth, and asteroids, to discover how rocks form the why they found where they are found. Japanese Camp

Spend a week enjoying Japanese through interactive and cultural activities and gain the cognitive benefits.
Grade 2-3 will focus on fun games and hands-on activities that help campers gain fine motor control while learning simple Japanese words and phrases.Grade 7-8 is a fun introduction to the non-alphabetic writing system that can open up a new world to campers. Learn Hiragana with collaborative activities and enjoy Japanese calligraphy and sushi cooking.

Juggling Camp

Juggling offers many benefits including improved coordination, sharpened mental focus, and increased physical fitness. Students will learn the basics of juggling, using classic props such as balls, clubs, rings, devil sticks and diablos. Throughout the day we will alternate skills practice with games and group activities.

Junior Firefighter Camp

Explore the work that firefighters do, including emergency medical care, rescue, and firefighting. Activities may include practicing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and cardiac defibrillation, observing the use of powered rescue tools, and using firefighting equipment equipment such as hand tools, fire hoses, and ladders. Campers will work alongside the firefighters performing station upkeep, housekeeping, and daily equipment checks.
