A special issue of the 2019 Synnyt Journal, edited by Maria Huhmarniemi, Timo Jokela and Tuija Hautala-Hirvioja, has been published. The volume includes articles from around the Circumpolar North and encourages discourse about the role of art in the development of the Arctic.

The call is open until July 30, 2019 to PhD students from UArctic member institutions outside Québec working in the field of northern or Arctic research. The goal is to identify six finalists that UArctic will select to represent UArctic and present their work at the Arctic Circle Assembly

The latest issue of our annual magazine, Shared Voices, is now available online. In the 2019 issue we explore the impact of UArctic – what kind of a change the past two decades of UArctic programs and collaboration have helped create.

The 8th MARPART Conference will be held September 3-4, 2019, at Nord University Campus, Bodø, Norway.

The conference will highlight policy development within maritime preparedness and response in the Arctic and discuss capacity and competence issues related to large scale SAR and oil spill recovery operations in the maritime Arctic. The conference is part of the MARPART projects.

UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic Migration invites contributions for the book “Immigration in the Circumpolar North: Integration & Resilience”.

The project Partnership for Sustainability: Arctic Tourism in Times of Change of the UArctic Thematic Network on Northern Tourism develops sustainability of Arctic tourism. The project is funded from the Nordic Council of Ministers' Arctic Co-operation Programme 2018-2021.

Peter Sköld, Chair of UArctic's Board of Governors, presents this report from the recently-concluded Arctic Council Ministerial meeting that took place in Rovaniemi at the conclusion of Finland's chairmanship.
