BIO
Erika Loebrich (née Boice) is an assistant project manager on the Energy Transitions Initiative team, assisting with research and logistical support.
Loebrich grew up in Pennsylvania where her love for the outdoors and helping others began. She initially studied engineering to pursue infrastructure improvements until a site visit to Mexico and realized that path was missing something; while she may be able to help improve the infrastructure side, she wouldn’t work directly with the people she was hoping to help.
Her career path pivoted to business, specifically economics. She focused on helping folks in refugee camps establish businesses of their own, and after a site visit, on work with the Saharawi people in Algeria. She earned her bachelor's degree in economic development with a concentration in business and policy.
In 2008, Loebrich first visited Alaska and fell in love with the state. She permanently moved up in the summer of 2021 and met the love of her life, Keaton, who introduced her to dog mushing. In September of 2022, they moved to Fairbanks.
Her passions include helping her husband train their 16 sled dogs, being outdoors, gardening, reading, writing and photography.
